Osei Bonsu was born in 1913 in adidwan Asante
Mampong. His parents were Kofi Akosah (father) and Abena Kwabena
(mother). Both parents were formers so Osei Bonsu took to farming
as well.
As a child Osei Bonsu really loved music and when he heard the
gramaphone being played, drew nearer and listened. In those days,
it was only European music that one could hear on gramphone records.
As a youth, Osei Bonsu loved the guitar too. He could recall times
when he made his own guitar and played it all day long. Not long,
he saved enough money to get himself a guitar. Osei Bonsu composed
a lot of songs. UAC recorded his first album. Later on, Osei Bonsu
recorded 3 discs on the DECCA label.
As a youth, he recalls musicians like Sam and Kofi Peprah, Akwasi
Manu, Kwame Boakye and Kramo. Osei Bonsu died in 1997.
